Qatar Airways has confirmed the resumption of direct flights between Doha and the Maldives. The service had been suspended due to regional tensions in the Middle East.
The resumption comes at a critical time as the ADB projected GDP growth to slow to 1.0% in 2026. Qatar Airways previously operated daily flights serving as a major transit hub.
Tourism stakeholders welcome the news, noting Gulf-origin arrivals contribute disproportionately to high-end resort bookings.
